Tales of Destiny (Japan), image verified with redump.org.
Game often freezes after random battles in the cave, shortly after Mary joins.

Do you know if the Tales of Destiny freezing occurs in the US version as well?

Could you post a copy of the memory card file so I can try to debug the issue?

I tested US version and it seems that bug affects only Japanese one.

Crash 2: Wrath of Cortex. When I try to run it through RetroArch, it opens and immediately closes. The error log doesn't yield any useful information.

Are you trying to say Mednafen is wrong somehow?

Because the image you posted is not how the BIOS screen on my real PS1 looks.

How is the lack of a graphical enhancement, that the real PS1 hardware does not have, an emulation "bug"; why did you post this in this specific topic?

Chaos Break (PAL/SLES-03107) doesn't go past the opening FMV sequence (after the Taito logo).

Tested using the libretro mednafen-psx port (version 20130629) provided by RetroArch.

Confirmed. "The Next Tetris" not working looks like a regression; it works in 0.9.29-WIP.

I doubt the translation patch even works properly on an actual PS1; it looks like it's causing the game to do an unaligned multi-byte store, which causes an exception/crashes the game.

iS: Internal Section (SLPS-01868) also shows black screen after the intros.
Is there a compatibility list somewhere to check before reporting? Or is this the only thread about non-working PSX games?

Hrm, Internal Section looks like another regression since 0.9.29-WIP, probably the same thing that's affecting "Next Tetris". :/

There's isn't a comprehensive compatibility list that I know of.

Possibly...

"Tekken 3", "Dead or Alive", "Ridge Racer Turbo Mode", and "Ehrgeiz" are interlaced in-gameplay, but they use lower horizontal resolutions.

Not sure if this is a bug or it's intended but was discussing this on another forum. I noticed many games in Mednafen display with black bars on the top/bottom of the game window when it's set to "aspect" which doesn't seem right. This has to do with overscan, correct? I had almost thought that was how the original games looked until I hooked up a PS1 to my old TV. I know that aspect can be set to "0" and scaling numbers can be entered, but that isn't proper to be used globally, is it? Since some games may use different resolutions. The bars don't appear in - for example - ePSXe using the gpuBladeSoft plugin. Here's Chrono Cross.

On tube TV with real PS1, game fills top and bottom (excuse side warping, tv is old):

In Mednafen, bars above and below game window:

Sorry if repost:

- Time Crisis: NTSC versions won't run, a primitive media player appears instead. You can listen to the audio tracks but that's it.

PAL versions work, but won't play audio tracks.

Also, when choosing a full stretch with Mednaffe frontend, PAL games look with wrong AR, with black bars at top and bottom. Is this intended?

I've tried several games since, I can't be sure I still have the error logs from MVSC. Give me some time and I'll try both "Marvel vs Capcom" PAL and NTSC-U again, and attach the error logs here.

EDIT: Here goes the log for Marvel vs. Capcom - Clash of Super Heroes (E) [SLES-02305].

The game comes in a single BIN file. After converting it to CUE/BIN (I use Daemnon Tools Lite + AnyToISO) it works fine, so it turns out I was wrong about this one. I'll try the NTSC-U version later.

EDIT 2: I'll be damned... This one works too. I guess I was using a vad copy before. Nevermind.

In Resident Evil Director's Cut (USA) [SLUS-00551] (not the DualShock edition) there's a controller config menu that's supposed to come up when you disconnect the controller, however in Mednafen it keeps popping up by itself when moving between certain screens.

The first time it happens is when you try to go to the other end of the very first dining room (where Barry is if you play as Jill.)

Mednafen does this on 0.9.31-WIP and above, 0.9.29-WIP and below seem to work fine (tested on Windows version).

That is an odd issue. It's probably a seek speed vs code execution speed issue, if it's anything like the shoddily-programmed RE2.

Regarding the latest version 0.9.33, you stated that you fixed the voice cutoff in Breath of Fire 4 'and probably some other games'.

At this, I went to check on Thousand Arms (a game that for me, suffered from voice cutoff in all previous versions). Alas, the cutoff is still there for me.

I was just wondering if you are aware of this issue, or if anyone else has the same issue?

Thanks for the great emulator.

I looked into Thousand Arms, it's using a different method to handle the voice playback, involving SPU IRQs.

I'm not quite sure how to fix the issue properly right now, but if you want a somewhat improper fix, comment out the "CheckIRQAddr(voice->CurAddr);" around line 614 of src/psx/spu.cpp

(that change will completely break at least one other game, though)

Vagrant Story (the french version at least)

When selecting New Game, the game get struck at the "Now Loading..." screen.
I also noticed that pressing a button during the intro skip to the menu but don't stop the music like it should (if I remember right).

I checked my dump md5sum and it's ok.

Tested on Kubuntu 13.10 with mednafen 0.9.33-2

That game has libcrypt "protection", you need to use a CloneCD rip or a cdrdao rip with rw_raw subchannel data.

Or use the actual physical CD with Mednafen. Wink
