I actually had these in the latest mednafen WIP thread, but I think it's more appropriate to post them here: X-Men (USA): The end level puzzle in Mojo's world is broken. You have to press the soft reset button (in mednafen, F10) after destroying a monitor at the end of the level in order to proceed further with the game. Instead of the Sega boot logo, a screen full of binary code shows up to confirm that the soft reset procedure worked. In mednafen, it always shows the Sega boot logo no matter how I try to reset the game in this point. Earthworm Jim (Brazil): Not Mega Drive related, but I though it would be worth mentioning. The game doesn't seem to work past the stage title-card screen. [Updated on: Sat, 01 January 2011 08:29] by Moderator

Post from another forum:philyso Combat Commando 7 posts Joined: 26-October 11 Posted Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:41 PM I finally had the chance to test Wii-Mednafen and it's actually a very good emulator, despite the limited interface. PCE emulation is years beyond what we got before, but honestly, I am a huge Genesis fan and I cannot let say Mednafen is an improvement compared to Genesis Plus GX, it's actually the opposite for me :-) Games with major graphical glitches: Aladdin, Out Runners, Double Clutch Games not working or freezing: James Pond 3, Dracula, Fatal Rewind, Virtua Racing, a few unlicensed games Off course, that's not much but there might be others, whereas I more or less tested the whole Genesis romset with Genesis Plus GX to get a full set of screenshots, and never encountered a single glitch or non-working game ! Sound emulation is good but not as accurate as Genesis Plus GX. Actually, it's sounds more like Gens while Genesis Plus GX is closer to Kega in term of accuracy. That's said, some people always prefered the sound of Gens even if it's not correct. Examples of a few games that notably sound wrong in Mednafen exactly like in Gens are Scoobi-Doo, Flashback (BGM 3 in sound test) or Comix Zone (many BGM in sound test) or have wrong sound effects (Alisia Dragoon, Beavis & Butthead, etc). F1 World Championship, all versions extremely glitched video during gameplay, game is unplayable Kawasaki Superbike Challenge glitching similar to the one in F1 is still present on UI elements but game is visible and playable, screen is flickering at high frequency though. Both F1 and Kawasaki supposedly use the same engine. Strangely enough, F1 World Championship Edition, sequel to the F1 game, works faultlessly. Picture of glitched screen in F1 attached.

Disney's games looks broken. Even after installing new m68k core. One programmer (without looking code, he is lazy) says that looks like a DMA timings did broken. Donald in Maui Mallard - slow, sprite glitches, freeze after boss World of illusions - slow Cool Spot - sprite glitches Comix Zone - sprite glitches Etc Well Earthworm Jim, which have similar game engine like a Donald in Maui Mallard, but there is no any glitches in any version (pal/ntsc) PS After a little correcting, Donald in Maui Mallard looks more normal, but still buggy in some moments and after boss game stops(not freeze). md/vdp.cpp 597: static const int fill_cc[2][2] = { { 16, 167 }, { 18, 205 }, }; >>>> static const int fill_cc[2][2] = { { 15, 166 }, { 17, 204 }, }; 610: case 0x40: /* V bus to VDP DMA */ { int32 runcount = (vbus_cc[reg[0x0C] & 1][vb_index] + 1) / 2; >>>> case 0x40: /* V bus to VDP DMA */ { int32 runcount = vbus_cc[reg[0x0C] & 1][vb_index]; [Updated on: Tue, 23 August 2016 21:36]

Solution by r57shell https://github.com/realmonster?tab=overview&from=2016-08-01&to=2016-08-31&utf8=%E2%9C%93 Table from https://github.com/mamedev/mame/blob/master/src/devices/video/315_5313.cpp#L1067 More information here: https://bitbucket.org/exodusemulator/exodus/src/ceac297d914fc0d5f2b10225dbb89d56be4ebbe5/Devices/315-5313/S315-5313_Timing.cpp?at=default&fileviewer=file-view-default#S315-5313_Timing.cpp-129 ps. Kawasaki is broken too. Screen is blinking and trash in bottom part screen. Blinking can be removed by another solution by r57shell ("turbo DMA"): vdp.cpp: printf("DMA: %02x, %d, %d\n", reg[23], scanline, DMALength); switch(reg[23] & 0xC0) { case 0x00: /* V bus to VDP DMA */ case 0x40: /* V bus to VDP DMA */ if((code & 0x0F) != 0x1 && (code & 0x0F) != 0x3 && (code & 0x0F) != 0x5) MD_DBG(MD_DBG_WARNING, "[VDP] Invalid code for V bus to VDP dma: %02x\n", code); status |= 0x2; Recalc68KSuspend(); break; case 0x80: /* VRAM fill */ if((code & 0x0F) != 0x1) MD_DBG(MD_DBG_WARNING, "[VDP] Invalid code for fill dma: %02x\n", code); dma_fill = 1; break; case 0xC0: /* VRAM copy */ if((code & 0x0F) != 0x0) MD_DBG(MD_DBG_WARNING, "[VDP] Invalid code for copy dma: %02x\n", code); status |= 0x2; break; } while(status & 0x2) CheckDMA(); //turbo DMA hack But trash is still here [Updated on: Mon, 19 September 2016 10:17]

This was using Mednafen 1.21.2. (I was using the MedGui Reborn frontend 0.095 - I'm hoping this shouldn't affect anything!) In PGA Tour Golf for the Mega Drive/Genesis, when you try to create a new player, the game says that there is no room for new players: (Because the UI is odd in this game, this can be seen by pressing C on the main menu, then pressing A on Tournament -> 1 Player -> Human -> New Player) Additionally, it seems to show a list of completely empty players currently saved and does not let you delete them. Saving during the game does not seem to work either, as although it doesn't bring up any error message, the restore game option is always greyed out. For reference, here's screenshots of what should appear, using a different emulator: Creating a new player Looking at existing players:

Greetings . My Mednafen version is 1.21.3. I found a bug in the game Golden Axe 3. If a six button controller is selected in port 2, the 2 player feature is greyed out and disabled. Then there's this amazing Golden Axe 3 hack by Hinadori JP: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nfusuvvf5rcs5w9/Golden%20Axe%20III%20RongHe%20Edition%20by%20hinadorijp%20%28Hack%29.zip (I uploaded it to Mediafire since I had a hard time finding it). It raises the magic bottles amount up to 255, lets you change characters on the fly by pressing X, make the special attacks of the characters pressing Y and do the alternate Magic specials pressing Z. It also gives access to all areas by default. (You have to activate these extra features in Options menu (HinadoriJP Mode = ON)). The problem I found with it, besides the Player 2 six button controller bug, is that X, Y and Z buttons doesn't work. I tested the game in other emulators like Gens or MAME and these buttons work well. Regards . Maxturbo. [Updated on: Thu, 21 June 2018 19:46]

It's probably a known issue, but Mednafen seems to have trouble with some homebrew games andhacks that surpass the usual size of Genesis carts. Pier Solar and the Great Architects is a good example. I've also experienced issues with these Genesis hacks: Super Street Fighter II: Blasto Remix Edition shows in-game garbled graphics. This happens in other emus too, I think only BlastEm plays it well. Also, both the Arcade and the Arcade Recolour hacks for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 available at RomHacking will show an exception error.
