Hey there,
I have a Mednafen setup that I'd like to use with Parsec. I already have P2's controls set to XBOX 360. Everything runs fine except for one problem:
When I disconnect the controller during gameplay and plug it back in, Mednafen still labels it unplugged. And when I start the game without the controller plugged in and plug it in during gameplay, the same thing happens. This renders Mednafen completely useless in Parsec Arcade, because players come and go in my hosted session, and those that stay can't do anything because their controller can't be plugged in.
Is there any way to fix this so that Mednafen labels the P2 XBOX controller as always plugged in, even when disconnected and reconnected?

Mednafen doesn't scan for connected controllers continuously. For older versions, you simply had to plug the controller in and never unplug it (once unplugged, you needed to restart mednafen). Since 1.27.1, you can press Shift + F3 to reinitialize what physical controllers you have connected, so that might be a workaround for your problem (it will 'cause a slight hitch in gameplay, which is why mednafen doesn't ever do this all the time on its own). Another solution might be to use mednafen's built in netplay, rather than using Parsec.

I tried the Shift+F3 thing and it didn't work. And it's easier and less cumbersome for me to find people to VS me in Parsec VS trying to use the built-in netplay, no offense.

Try downloading 1.29.0 from the releases page, and using that version of mednafen. That'll have Shift + F3. If the Shift + F3 thing doesn't work out, you could always try controller -> keyboard mapping software, like joy2key or Xpadder, and let those programs handle controller detection, if you're not using the keyboard yourself already.
And none taken: IDK about Parsec, but mednafen netplay does basically require you to find an opponent outside the game somewhere, like a Discord server or whatever. Parsec probably has built-in support for finding players.

Exactly. Parsec has an arcade section where you host whatever game you wanna play, and then anyone browsing the arcade (there's a lot of them) can join your game in just one click. Much easier than having to scavenge the entire world wide web just to find one player willing to verse you.
