Sync to host refresh? [message #7022] | Sat, 09 March 2024 15:44

Hello, As you may know, systems emulated by mednafen do NOT output exactly 60Hz: they do 59.xx or 60.xx. My display, for example, does 60.002399 at 1080p. That causes minor refresh rate discrepancies between the emulated system and the emulator host, that in turn cause hiccups on the games. These hiccups can easily be seen in 240p test suite scrolling tests. Now, does mednafen have any means to synchronize the emulated system video to the host video? RetroArch does this, and video synchronization is simply perfect (even if games run unnoticeably faster or slower than the original hardware on the CRT, that's why it's optional). Can the same be archieved in standalone mednafen? Thanks!
