Known bugs in general(now with minor design flaws!). [message #162] Fri, 27 January 2006 21:53 Go to next message

The default setting for frame advance(ALT+A) conflicts with the default left button for most systems.
Not planned to be fixed, as the funky default key layouts are intended to be reconfigured by the end user...yeah...that's a good excuse!

Mednafen won't run on non-two's-complement CPUs.
Won't be fixed

Mednafen won't run on CPUs without arithmetic right shift capabilities.
Won't be fixed.

Mednafen won't work if sizeof(int) < 4, and it might not work properly if sizeof(int) > 4.
The former potential problem probably won't be fixed, though the latter could be if I encounter such a platform...

Mednafen probably won't work correctly if the compiler has an unsigned "char" data type.
More of an issue with ports; they need to make sure to compile with -fsigned-char. Will be fixed on a case-by-case basis if any bug reports are made.

CD image loading is somewhat finicky, and doesn't support all image format features(biggy being catalog numbers).

Hey ... I think this is very interesting for discovering the bug!

The Exit-Problem exists on linux too:

Here my post:

-------------------------------------------------------
Hallo there!

I have a problem with any mednafen version:

If you stop mednafen using: kill -s PID

the screen is not resized and mousegrab is away

Never seen this behaviour in other emulators!
--------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps fixing the problem - I need this fix for a frontend!

Have you considered using libmirage, part of cdemu, to handle the CD image reading routines for Mednafen? It purports to support a variety of image formats, and handles subchannel reading well. The downsides are it would need to be included as internal library, and it adds a dependency on glib.

Quote:

Written in C, based on GLib and its technologies, such as GObject and GModule.
Disc layout representation via GObject-based objects representing disc, session, track, language, index, etc.
Support for both CD-ROM and DVD-ROM images
CD-TEXT, ISRC, MCN and DVD-ROM disc structures support
Capable of generating information not provided by image file; for instance, if image provides only user data, sync pattern, header, ECC/EDC codes and subchannel are generated on fly when they are attempted to be accessed.
Currently supported image formats:
BlindWrite 5/6 (B5T, B6T) file format
WinOnCD (C2D) file format
CloneCD (CCD, SUB, IMG) image format
DiscJuggler (CDI) file format
Easy CD Creator (CIF) file format
CDRwin (CUE, BIN) image format
PowerISO (DAA) image format
Track loader (ISO, UDF) for ISO9660 and UDF track images
Alcohol 120% (MDS) image format
Nero Burning ROM (NRG) image format
ReadCD (TOC, BIN) image format
Cdrdao's (TOC, BIN) image format
XCDRoast (TOC, BIN) image format
Plug-in based system that allows simple addition of new image format parsers or data-file access fragments.
Debugging; verbosity of debug traces can be adjusted on fly using special debug context objects. Therefore, amount of traces can be adjusted without the need to restart the application.
Various utility functions for converting address from/to LBA and MSF, interleaving and deinterleaving subchannel data, ECC/EDC generation, etc.

A couple of bugs I found in the latest betas. Not sure if they existed before or not:

SNES: Shaq-Fu (Europe) won't load. It just shows a black screen until you exit the emulator.

GB: Best of the Best (Aka Kick Boxing) crashes in the Training section. Tested with both European and Japanese versions.

Here are the stderr.txt contents:

Mednafen refuses to load the cues with the percent symbol in the filename (Asuka 120% Excellent - Burning Fest. Excellent (Japan).cue):

Quote:

Loading C:\111\111\Asuka 120 Excellent - Burning Fest. Excellent (Japan).cue...
Error opening CD: Error opening file "C:\111\111\Asuka 120 Excellent - Burning Fest. Excellent (Japan).cue": No such file or directory

If to rename the file and remove the percent symbol, it loads and runs fine.

Are you invoking Mednafen via command line, shell file extension association/drag-and-drop, frontend, or something else?

Commandline, mednafen.exe "C:\111\111\Asuka 120% Excellent - Burning Fest. Excellent (Japan)" -force_module psx. Percent symbol doesn't even appear in the logs, it says there's no "Asuka 120 Excellent - Burning Fest. Excellent (Japan).cue" file.

Works fine for me in both Windows 7 with cmd.exe, and Windows XP with cmd.exe and command.com.

Interesting. It works as a command in a console window, but acts as I've described above if run via .bat or .cmd file.
